TAZARA FLY-OVER
This is a flyover which many Tanzanians have been waiting for with anxiety. Authorities in Japan have already approved a detailed design for the multi-billion shilling flyover project to be built at the junction of Nelson Mandela and Nyerere roads, paving the way for procurement of works to proceed.
Signing of the project brings a great relief to most Tanzanians. This is part of the ongoing government interventions to reduce the critical problem of congestion on Dar es Salaam roads.
Nyerere road is the only major road providing direct access to the international airport and flanked almost continuously by industrial activities. Nelson Mandela road is pronounced importance as a corridor of seaport cargo movement to inland areas of Tanzania, and as an international corridor to other inland countries such as Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, D. R. Congo, Zambia and Malawi.
