How to achieve sound comfortability in a building.
The control of intruding sound ideally begins with the initial building concept and continues to be a consideration through the life of the building. Total sound conditioning affects:
Predictable sound attenuation can be achieved by careful attention to detail during all phases of planning and construction.
- Site Selection
The site selection is the key factor to consider if you want to get ride of unwanted sound in a building. There are sites which are close to the unwanted sound sources. sites which are near to highways, factories, airports, bars & clubs, etc. It is better to choose site which is not near to sound sources.
- Building Orientation
On The Site the building orientation steps in during the planning in design process. The building should be arranged so as to correspond well with quite zone and noisy zone. The shape and form of the building can help in the achievement of sound comfortability in a building.
- Room Orientation Within The Building
During the design stage and arrangement of spaces within a building, it is better to know the position of sound source. After the analysis of noisy and quite zone, the spaces should be arranged accordingly. example, a library room in a house should be positioned far from public area (lounge, kitchen) to minimize unwanted sound produced in those areas.
- Design, Detailing, Specification
In this stage, the detailed drawings should be produced well. The drawings must show well the connections between various parts is. the connections of door/window and wall, positioning of roof and ceiling, must be detailed well because these are major bridges of sound.
- Construction
The one who is constructing the building, mainly contractor, should construct the building according to the drawings and specifications. Supervisor of the project must make sure the building is constructed according to the drawings by doing various inspections during construction stage.
